The report covers a range of topics: education, healthcare, housing, and the economy. The information in this publication demonstrates that wide disparities continue to exist between LGBTQ+ people and their non-LGBTQ+ counterparts.

The LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus consists of 175 members, the largest in the 117th Congress. The report begins stating its intended purpose to “benchmark” the progress toward LGBTQ+ equality in a message from the chair of the caucus, Representative David Cicilline. Within this message he states the following:

This report is meant to establish a benchmark of where we are in the fight for true lived equality for LGBTQ+ people—a benchmark by which we can measure our progress in the years to come. Unfortunately, as this report shows, we are not starting in a great place, as LGBTQ+ people continue to face worse outcomes than their non-LGBTQ+ counterparts in key areas of life.

Representative David Cicilline, Chair of the LGBTQ+ Equality Caucus

The report includes a confluence of surveys and statistics on each category.
