Initial Report Draft On Sex Case Hirings

A tentative report on employment of homosexuals in Government has been prepared by a special Senate subcommittee of two, it was announced last night by Senator Hill, Democrat, of Alabama and Senator Wherry, Republican, of Nebraska.

The lawmakers, who are a unit of the Senate Appropriations subcommittee handling the 1951 District supply bill, issued a formal statement to this effect after a lengthy meeting.

A final formal report will be made to the full subcommittee, also headed by Senator Hill, "sometime next week," they said.

Their inquiry grew out of consideration by the Hill subcommittee of the District budget and a request by Senator Wherry, Republican Minority Leader, for an investigation.

A report about sexual perverts in Washington was made to the full subcommittee by Lt. Roy E. Blick, head of the Metropolitan Police Vice Squad, but this testimony has never been disclosed. Chargs have been aired there are about 5,000 perverts in this city, many in Federal employment.

A State Department official testified at one hearing that 91 such persons had been fired from that department.
