(Redirected from J. Edgar Hoover)

John Edgar Hoover (1895-1972) was a leading figure in the era of McCarthyism as part of the pursuit of the federal government on employees who had "homosexual tendencies". This was not a new area of interest for J. Edgar Hoover, director of the FBI since the 1920s. He held entire records of residents he suspected of being queer or transgender as part of the FBI's "Sex Deviates" program.
