Leon & Cushman

This company, now at the Academy of Music in the great musical comedy, "On the Stage," have had a very successful run. The company comprises 12 first class artists. They have made a tour of the world, and in Australia they have created quite a furore. At Honolulu, Sandwich Islands, they performed nine nights to crowded houses, and were honored with the presence of King Kalakua and suite at each performance. These royal gentlemen bestow upon the artists many favors.

Mr. Frank Cushman is a Baltimore boy. He was born in the eighth ward, but was never connected in any way with political disputes or differences, so often noted in that locality. He was a first-class minstrel and was connected with the best troupes, but abandoned burnt cork to enter teh comedy field, in which has scored a success.

Mr. Francis Leon is a native of New York city. He studied for the Catholic ministry, but displaying a talent of another order, adopted the stage as a profession. He is considered one of the best delineators of female character now before the public, particularly in the line of the "Modern Society Girl," in which he has no superior.

This afternoon a "rosebud" matinee will be given, and each lady will be presented with a pretty bouquet of artificial flowers as a souvenir.
