Justice Department Lists 1 Loyalty Case In 8 Security Ousters

The Justice Department appears to have made a lone contribution to the total of loyalty cases included in the administration's disputed figure of 2,200 "security risks" separated from Government service.

When Representative Rooney, Democrat, of New York, asked for Justice's contribution to the total at the department's appropriation hearing last December, Deputy Attorney General William P. Rogers asked that the answer be kept off the record--at least until the number could be determined accurately.

Later the number was determined to be eight. Attorney General Brownell testified that one was a former Communist. The others, he indicated, were in such categories as alcoholics, homosexuals and incompetents.
