NOVEL NOT OBSCENE
Publishers of "The Well of Loneliness" Acquitted of Charge.
NEW YORK, April 20 (AP)-- Radcliffe Hall's novel, "The Well of Loneliness," was held not to be obscene in a ruling yesterday by three justices in the Court of Special Sessions. Donald Friede and Covici-Friede, Inc. American publishers of the British work, were acquitted of a charge of selling an obscene book. Friede on Wednesday was convicted in Boston of selling an obscene book. He had sold a copy of Dreiser's "An American Tragedy," to a policeman in a test case.
